Product Description
The integrated compression hole allows the surgeon to apply controlled pressure across the fusion site, which is the most critical factor in achieving a successful "union" between two bones.
The locking technology creates a rigid internal framework. This prevents the screws from backing out and maintains the alignment of the foot's arch throughout the entire healing process.
The skin on the top of the foot is very thin. This plate is engineered with a minimal thickness (typically 1.2mm - 1.4mm) to prevent it from rubbing against the patient's skin or shoes.
Grade 5 medical titanium provides high fatigue strength while remaining lightweight. It is highly resistant to corrosion and is optimized for permanent implantation in the human body.
Primary indication for fusing the Tarsometatarsal (TMT) joints due to arthritis, chronic instability, or Lisfranc injuries.
Used to bridge and stabilize straight-line fractures in the mid-shaft of the second, third, or fourth metatarsals.
Provides linear stability for fusing the joints in the middle of the foot arch to treat flatfoot deformities.
Ideal for revision cases where previous fixation failed and a rigid, compressing bridge is required to restart the healing process.

This is a straight titanium "bridge" used to join two bones in your foot together permanently. This process is called "fusion." When a joint in your midfoot becomes very arthritic and painful, a surgeon uses this plate to stop the joint from moving. Once the bones grow together through the plate, the pain usually disappears.
While some parts of the foot are curved, many of the joints in the middle of the foot are relatively straight. A Straight Fusion Plate is the most efficient way to bridge these joints. It provides a strong, direct line of support that keeps the bones from shifting while they "knit" together.
For two bones to become one, they need to be squeezed together tightly. Our plate has a special "compression slot." The surgeon puts a screw in this slot, and as it tightens, it actually slides the two bones toward each other. This "squeeze" tells your body to start growing new bone across the gap immediately.
Biomechanically, the midfoot is the "keystone" of your foot's arch. It has to support your entire body weight thousands of times a day. This plate is designed to be stiff enough to handle those loads, ensuring your arch doesn't collapse while you are healing.
The surgeon makes a small incision on the top of your foot. The cartilage between the two bones is removed to expose "fresh" bone. The plate is then applied across the gap and secured with locking screws. Because the plate is ultra-thin, it sits deep under your skin and shouldn't be visible once the swelling goes down.
Fusion takes time—usually 6 to 10 weeks. You will likely be in a boot or a cast during this period. The plate is doing all the heavy lifting, making sure the bones don't move a millimeter. Once the X-ray shows the bones have fused, you'll be able to return to normal walking and activities, usually with much less pain than before the surgery.
The MT Straight Fusion Locking Plate is a reliable and essential tool for midfoot reconstruction. By combining high-strength titanium with active compression technology, it provides the perfect environment for bone fusion, helping patients regain a stable, painless foundation for their foot.
You will lose movement in the specific joint that is fused. However, the midfoot joints don't move much to begin with. Most patients find that losing the painful movement of an arthritic joint is a huge relief and actually helps them walk better.
The plate is designed to stay in your foot permanently. It is made of medical-grade titanium, which is safe for long-term use in the body and is completely MRI-safe.
Because the TOOLMED plate is "ultra-low profile," it is very thin. Most patients cannot feel the plate once the surgical area has fully healed. It is designed not to interfere with wearing normal shoes.
Yes. If a Lisfranc injury (a tear or break in the midfoot) is severe or doesn't heal with a cast, this plate is often used to stabilize the joints and restore the foot's structural integrity.
Usually not. Titanium is non-magnetic and the plate is quite small. It rarely triggers airport metal detectors, and it's perfectly safe for travel.
