Product Description
The percutaneous guides allow for a "minimally invasive" approach to Achilles repair, reducing the risk of wound complications and infection—a critical factor in foot and ankle surgery.
Includes specialized "rescue" tools for removing old interference screws or suture anchors, as well as oversized reamers for creating new tunnels in revision ligament reconstructions.
The tendon strippers and harvesters are precision-ground to cleanly separate donor tissue (like the plantaris or FHL tendon) without fraying the fibers, ensuring the highest quality graft for the repair.
Certain suture passers and small elevators in this set are useful for distal clavicle procedures or specialized biceps tenodesis where access is restricted.
The long-reach tendon harvesters can be adapted for iliopsoas tendon releases or for harvesting autografts for labral reconstruction.
The primary indication is Achilles Tendon Repair (Acute or Chronic), Lateral Ankle Ligament Stabilization (Brostrom-Gould), and complex Revision Ankle Ligament Reconstructions.

This is a specialized "repair kit" for the back of the ankle. It contains tools to help the surgeon fix a torn Achilles tendon—the thick cord that connects your calf muscle to your heel. It also includes "Revision" tools, which are like heavy-duty rescue tools used if a previous surgery didn't heal correctly or if old screws need to be removed and replaced.
This set is used for Achilles Tendon Ruptures and Chronic Ankle Instability. It allows the surgeon to either fix the tendon through a large incision or through tiny "keyhole" pokes in the skin using a special guide. It is also used in "Revision" surgery to redo an old ankle repair that has failed or stretched out over time.
The main advantage is Reliability in Tough Conditions. The skin around the heel is very thin and heals slowly. This set’s "Percutaneous" tools allow the surgeon to sew the tendon without making a big cut, which means a lower chance of infection. Additionally, the revision tools are made of extra-strong steel to handle the tough bone and old metal hardware found in second-time surgeries.
Biomechanically, the set focuses on High-Tension Load Distribution. The Achilles tendon must withstand forces ($F$) several times the body's weight during running. The tools in this set are designed to pass sutures in a "Kessler" or "Bunnell" pattern that distributes tension ($T$) evenly across the tendon fibers, preventing the repair from pulling apart during the early healing phase.
In a percutaneous repair, the surgeon slides a Suture Guide over the torn tendon. Stitches are passed through the skin and the tendon using specialized needles from the kit. The sutures are then pulled down and anchored into the heel bone (calcaneus) using Interference Screws or Suture Anchors, pulling the two ends of the torn tendon together perfectly.
These instruments are removed after the surgery. Because the repair is so strong and often done through small holes, the patient’s wound heals much faster. After a few weeks in a boot, the patient can begin Ankle Rehabilitation, focusing on slowly stretching and strengthening the tendon to get back to walking and sports.
The Achilles Tendon & Ligament Revision Instrument Set provides the specialized toolkit required for the highest level of foot and ankle care. By combining minimally invasive guides with robust revision tools, TOOLMED enables surgeons to tackle the most complex ankle reconstructions with confidence and precision.
Yes. The set includes specialized jigs and suture passers designed specifically for percutaneous Achilles repair, which helps protect the skin and blood supply to the area.
A tendon stripper is used to harvest a healthy tendon from another part of the leg (like the plantaris) to help reinforce a severely damaged or chronic Achilles rupture.
Yes. The "Revision" part of the set includes high-torque drivers and broken-screw extractors that can remove old or damaged hardware from previous surgeries.
Yes. The eyelets of the suture passers and the cannulation of the drivers are sized to accommodate the newest high-strength suture tapes and ribbons.
All instruments are made of high-grade 304V and 630 stainless steel, which are highly resistant to corrosion. However, proper cleaning and drying after each autoclave cycle are essential for long-term maintenance.
